Karts don't have much power so it's all about momentum. Brake as little as possible and minimize any sliding you do.

Relax and be smooth. Let off the throttle and let the kart roll through the corners. Don't jab on the brakes because something with such a short wheelbase doesn't react nicely to weight moving around.

the biggest speed loss comes from turning too hard and it starts bucking and skipping. Usually they don't slide too much but if you can find the sweet spot where it lets you slide and doesn't buck you'll keep your speed up and fly.

I'll mirror what folks said here - be as smooth as possible and use as much track as you can to maintain momentum. The electric karts actually have torque on demand, so when passing, you can go deep into corners as long as you can shut the door and have the line, you won't dig yourself into a hole taking a bad line to execute the pass. As with all racing, remember to do "spirit fingers" on the straights (wiggle your fingers to loosen your grip) - most folks grip too hard on the wheel, especially with manual racks.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
As someone else said, most karts don't have enough power to have much acceleration, so carrying your momentum through corners is key.
Also, beware of cold tires.
Also, don't crash.

Oh, almost forgot. Any time you lose grip with the front or rear of the kart, you're losing momentum. Try to keep the understeer and oversteer to an absolute minimum.

Once you stop caring about times, just pull a bunch of super duriftos until they tell you to stop.

don't hit the brake and the gas at the same time, it kills the power and slows you down.

From my 2-stroke kart racing experience, do your braking in a straight line, be off the brake before turn in, and be full on the throttle before the apex. On rental or low power karts you should be able to just lift on some of the turns, and you can treat the throttle like an on/off switch. Never been on electric karts, but I've been on 4-cycle rentals so the fundamentals shouldn't change much. With the low power the ass might not hang out when you stab the throttle full. And be full on the throttle through any turns that don't require braking, try not to lift. That one may be tricky until you have a good feel of the track though.
